What is the difference between a Grease and an Anti-seize ? A Grease is best thought as a sponge full of oil where sponge is thickener which holds the oil and additives in place and have lubricating properties. An anti-seize prevents or inhibits mechanical seizing. Greasing are for bearings and anti-seize are for fasteners.
Learn More28/07/ · The grease is just a means of delivering the solids, and is actually a low temperature product. On a Harley, the main places to use anti-seize are the spark plug threads, axle shafts, and swing arm pivot. None of them need continuous lubrication, but the shafts can and will corrode and lock themselves in place.
Learn MoreAnti-seize grease or compound is commonly applied to fasteners to prevent the threads from becoming galled or damaged, especially when

Learn MoreHigh heat oils grease will fair better. Everything else you mentioned is fine. Just remember, if its easy to put together or take apart because you oiled it, it's also easy for it to loosen its self on its own.
Learn MoreIt's highly water resistant, and doesn't attract dirt, nor does it go rancid. Antiseize can dry up if exposed to plenty of air, but it lasts longer than grease. 1 - 11 of 11 Posts. Learn MoreAnti-seize is also a greasy lubricating substance, but unlike brake grease, it can take some heat. It can withstand temperatures up to 2600 degrees, thanks to its high-solids content. The flip side of that is that it can't be applied to fast-moving metals. It could easily jam the rotating parts and damage the system.
Learn More10/01/ · The use of Anti-seize is for the prevention of dissimilar metal oxidation which occurs when two different metals come in contact. Be careful with grease though, make sure you are using the correct grease for your application and know how much to apply. General Purpose grease is fine for mating splines but should not be used for wheel bearings.
