1) Getting the door harness disconnected. Not much room to get the grommet and connector out to disconnect the harness. 2) Getting the top retaining strap pressed back on the pins. Had to remove the door half of the hinge and use a vise to press the strap back onto the pin.

You can do this by sitting on the door sill and lifting the door with your legs, while watching where the hinges move for any play where the two parts meet. If there is play you need to replace the pins and bushings. If the door is misaligned then you may have to either adjust it or "spring it" up to make it open and close properly.

This repair should be performed when the existing pins and bushings have worn to the point where the door is sagging when opened. While the vehicle in this video is a Chevy Blazer, S10 the process

1/7 · Next, use the hammer and punch to drive the old door pin out. Now mark the hinge on the door side with a marker for realignment and take out the two 1/2 bolts out and remember where the body shims went if you've got any. Now you can drive the bushings out with the punch and hammer. Mine were purdy bad.

Starting with the upper hinge, slide the new brass bushings into the hinge. Insert the car door hinge pin into position just as the old hinge 

I wanted to just knock out the pins to remove the doors for paint but realized the top pin won't come out that way. I unbolted the hinge to remove the pins, drilled and tapped holes in one end, and then installed the top hinge pin upside down. The added screw in the threaded hole will keep the pin from ever falling out since it's upside down.

I ended up using a vice and a box end wrench as a spacer to pull them thru on the bottom hinge. After getting the bushings installed, the ID shrunk from 0.3435" down to 0.334". This makes it very tight for the pin. This is a good thing, put the hinge back together, and use a hammer to install the pin. It's as tight as anyone could ever hope for.
