The TS100 has lots of power, but almost no thermal mass in the tip. As soon as you touch it against something, all of the heat rushes out and you often get a cold joint or partially melted solder. If it was quicker to react to the heat change, it'd be alright. I like mine still, but only really use it on the go or for quick jobs.

Really happy with this kit - it's a great starting point for a solid TS100 setup and exactly what I expected. The soldering iron works great, especially once I installed the open source firmware on it (as seen in the video) - having temporary temperature boost at the press of a button is amazing for soldering ground planes or using solder wick.
