This abradable skirt coating allows the engine builder to install the piston with virtually zero piston to wall clearance. During operation, the skirt coating will hone in to create the perfect amount of clearance between the piston skirt and cylinder wall. Additionally, shock load and degradation to engine bearings is reduced. View Products
Learn MoreThey have a lightweight, rigid-rib skirt design that stabilizes the piston in the bore. All of this adds up to pistons that fit tighter than forged types, provide improved oil control, reduce blowby, increase ring life, eliminate cold start-up knocking, and won't cost you an arm and a leg!

The Hyper pistons from KB installed properly (just follow the instructions) will get you a long lasting motor. Not following the instructions won't, but that is true with any product.
Learn MoreI managed the busines unit and had access to tons of technical support data for hyper pistons from when they were made in Malden, MO, USA. They were good dimensionally correct parts back then with good mettalurgy. The KB stuff at the time was made in Nevada, and was not as good, but still decent products with some really weird design features.

Learn More3/20 · I've got a mild 1978 360 stock heads, mild cam and flat top Keith Black hypereutectic pistons. I am wanting to add about a 100 or 150 shot of nitrous. Will the pistons hold up to the gas. These are cast not forged pistons. I've heard it doesn't take much to shatter these pistons. Just want to see what it will add to a Duster going down the track.

They'll last as long as you can keep em out of detonation. Hell, I think they've been low 11's, maybe high 10s in Jeremy Duncan's truck years ago. Something like 1.5s 60' times.
Learn MoreDiscussion Starter · #1 · Mar 29, 2002. Is anyone running Keith Black KB116 pistons in a 289? I was thinking of getting these for my 289. They are a .020 dome piston. WHen I was on their web site, their footnotes say the dome on these pistons will need to be modified for early 289 heads. I am running World Products Windsor Jr. heads.
